EPISODE 2: CHOOSING A DEPLOYMENT MODEL

My initial thought that everyone looking to upgrade from AX to D365 would automatically select the cloud option was quickly proven to be incorrect. Almost everyone wanted to analyze cloud versus on-premise. Here is what we found helping companies with their decision-making process.

The biggest surprise for me in discussing the upgrade from Microsoft Dynamics AX to Dynamics 365 for Finance and Operations (D365FO) with multiple clients and potential clients is not that to-date everyone has decided to go the cloud, but rather that everyone wanted to engage on a detailed analysis of the options available to them:


  • Cloud
  • On-premises
  • Hybrid


The second major surprise for me was that these sophisticated debates were often tossed out the window because of some minor “inconvenience” in the on-premises approach.
